Obviously, I was not alive while World War II was taking place. The closest I have come to the beaches of Normandy has probably been the "Operation Overlord" mission in Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. However, if Omaha Beach was only half as confusing, nervewracking, and deadly as the MOHAA level was, I am certain that I would not have survived if I had to storm that desolate piece of coastland in June 6, 1944.

Looking at the format of that date - June 6, 1944 - I realize that it is almost as familiar as July 4, 1776. In many ways, D-Day is the second most important day in American history. While the failure of the Allied forces might not have led to the loss of American sovereignty, Europe, and by extension, the world, would have been a much different place.
